Our Goods Number  VR010

This classic 9” 405-Line Console Television was manufactured between 1949 and 1951. It was used as a Hire Television from 1952 to 1955 by B.W. James and Co of 137 High Street, Marlborough, Wiltshire.

The Television was then sold privately to one of B.W. James’s Engineers, who refurbished it, and added a Band III Tuner. The Television was operational most days during the 60’s and 70’s, and was eventually retired in the early 80’s.

It hasn’t been powered-up since the demise of 405-Line transmissions, so it would require replacement of all capacitors before testing.  It has been kept in a dry and warm non-smoking environment.

A similar model was sold at auction in 2002 and fetched £450.  A cabinet-only (no chassis or Tube) was sold at auction for £50 to a collector who already owned a chassis, and required a cabinet.

The Television is offered for sale as an auction item, with a Reserve Price.  Please send your bid using the Enquiry Form (Link below), after which you will be notified if the bid was successful.  You will also be notified if your bid was near (>15%) to the Reserve Price, but not if it was far too low.  You may enter a higher bid at any time.
